The award aims to expand the research opportunities for the recipients, facilitate the employment of emerging scientists, and initiate further research initiatives.

Scientists from the fields of life sciences, natural sciences, and engineering, who, through interdisciplinary, practice-oriented research at the interface of science and society, have developed outstanding strategies and concepts for the sustainable use of global water resources.

Next call 2025

Strengthening water resources research is a key discipline for global sustainable development through the integration of leading disciplines such as medicine, biology, chemistry, physics, and computer science, while promoting interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary dialogue.

Junior research group engaged in interdisciplinary, practice-oriented research at the interface of science and society, developing integrative models for the sustainable use of water resources. Representatives from the natural and life sciences disciplines which are involved in interdisciplinary exchange.

Next call 2026

Development of new or complementary monitoring concepts, as well as innovative field measurement methods and campaigns, to serve as a basis for process-oriented modeling of hydrosystems from the perspective of physically based Earth system observation. Expanding the research opportunities for the awardees and creating space for new research initiatives.

Individuals or tandems of early-career researchers in the final phase of their Ph.D. or in the postdoctoral phase.
